On April 23, Micah graduated from the BYU Marriott School of Management with both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Information Systems. Besides being an excellent student and a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, he served as an officer in his program's student association, and performed for three years in Vocal Point (BYU's 9-man acappella group). Oh yeah, and he managed to work, be involved in our church, and be a wonderful husband and dad all at the same time, too. We couldn't be more proud of him. What an accomplishment!
Commencement. Micah decided it would be way more fun to sit with me then to put on his cap and gown, walk across campus in the processional (in the rain), and sit on the other side of the arena by people he didn't know. I concurred.
There was a bit of a wait for everything to start. We got goofy.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson, a leader in our church, was the Commencement speaker. He talked about the importance of gaining knowledge and learning to serve each other. Then University President Cecil Samuelson spoke about the experiences -good and bad- that come with life, and how important it is to use all those opportunities to come to God.
After each graduate was presented with their diploma, they were invited to sign a piece of the Marriott Center stadium floor, also signed by Mr. Marriott, Jr. himself. This will hang in the Business school building on campus (you know we'll take our kids back to visit our Alma Mater years from now, and I can't wait to show them Daddy's signature on the wall).
My Dad and sister Lindsay, and Micah's sister Cami (who single-handedly kept Madison occupied through the entire ceremony- THANK YOU, Cami!)
It was quite a long day, and Maddi was a trooper through it all. By the time Micah was able to meet us outside the arena, though, she was cranky, tired, hungry, and very much afraid of Micah's hat. She didn't want anything to do with him as long as he had that thing on.
We decided we were too tired to battle the crowds, and we weren't going to get any decent pictures that night anyway, so we came back to campus the next day for a little photo shoot. (Which turned out to be a brilliant idea, since the place was practically a ghost town the day after graduation. No waiting in line to get five seconds in front of the University sign!)
Congratulations to my favorite graduate in the world. You done me proud!

Well, happy late Easter, graduation, and everything else in between and since :) Sorry Texas isn't agreeing with your hair. Those darn dishes never want to cooperate! Glad you found a minute to update a little. I know how huge it can be to just get one or two lines down sometimes.
