A typical morning conversation.
k: Maddi, do you want eggs...
m: Egg!
k: ...or oatmeal?
m: Oatmo!
k: Wait, you want oatmeal, or eggs?
m: Egg.
k: Ok. Let's eat eggs.
m: No.
Cheerios it is.

Sick day.
This little one has been a little under the weather.
So we've taken a break from playgroups and pool time and our usual comings and goings to rest and relax a little. It's been the best day I've had in a long time. We read stories, did puzzles, drew pictures, blew bubbles, made cookies, discovered Sesame Street (ooooh boy- was that an exciting moment), and did a whole lot of cuddling.
And it makes me think, it shouldn't take a nasty virus to get me to spend this kind of time with my daughter.
Sure, I can't put everything on the to do list on hold every day, but the laundry can wait sometimes. Because there will always be laundry. But my little girl won't stay little. When my mom came to help with the cooking and cleaning after Maddi was born, I told her I was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up without her there. She said this:“Cleaning and scrubbing can wait for tomorrow,
For babies grow up, I’ve learned, to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby, and babies don’t keep."

Thanks, Mom. And feel better soon, Bug!

I miss.
The kid is still sleeping (which never happens- growth spurt maybe?), and I don't know what to do with myself. So here I am blogging. But all I can think about are the things I miss.
I miss mountains. I miss how they turn bight orangey-pink just as the sun starts to go down, and how they smell, and how they ORIENT you (how in the heavens do Texans find East?!?). I miss Aspen Grove. And Alpine Loop. And the Y (the hill. and the school.) I miss the Creamery. And the Student Leadership Office. And Campus Craft and Floral. I miss the Orem Public Library. I miss crazy little Darcy. I miss Movies 8. And Smith's. I miss living 10 minutes from my brother. I miss KSL Studio 5 (really). I miss going to Conference. And Stansbury Park. I miss the SweetTooth Fairy. A lot. I miss Vocal Point. I miss being able to go on walks (too hot here). I miss my friends. I miss my mom like crazy.
It's ok to miss things. But it's good to move on. And I really do love it here. And we already have wonderful friends here. So all is well.
Just know you are missed.

Sea World
Living in San Antonio has its perks. Like the fact that Sea World is just twenty minutes away and getting a yearly pass costs just a bit more than going for a day. So guess where we'll be most of the summer? Yesterday we went with our good friends Ben and Vanessa, and met up with a few other couples there as well. Best. Park. Ever. I'm pretty much hooked.
Maddi and her little buddy Boston loved watching the dolphins.
"Hi dolphins!"
We watched a waterskiing show on the lake that was unbelievable (think flips off ramps, switching between boats, "skiing" barefoot, cabaret lifts...) How's that for a job? Lucky ducks.
Madison was very impressed. This is her applauding wildly and saying "yay!" although it sounds more like "lay!" which is why her tongue is sticking out...
This production featured the sea lions. Yes, that's a sea lion behind the desk. He's the gumshoe and she's the heartthrob in distress (cue Roger Rabbit theme music). A must-see!
The dads manning the strollers. Except for Ben, whose pretending to push a stroller because their baby's due in August. You can be part of the club soon, Ben!
But my favorite part of the whole day was definitely this little number:
There's so much more... more than we could squeeze in before naptime. Good thing we can go back any time we want!
